Multi-Grammy-nominated, award-winning saxophonist and composer Ben Wendel joins forces with Grammy-winning pianist Kevin Hays to perform a wide repertoire of original compositions and beloved standards from the jazz canon. This performance will be held during Upstate Art Weekend, an annual event celebrating the cultural vibrancy of upstate New York through events and open exhibitions. The performance will be followed by a reception with special access to the DR Center gallery, currently showing Portraits of Process.

Ben Wendel
Grammy-nominated saxophonist Ben Wendel was born in Vancouver, Canada, and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Currently living in Brooklyn, NY, he has also been a performer, composer, and producer. Highlights include tours, performances, and recordings with artists like Tigran Hamasyan, Bill Frisell, Terence Blanchard, Antonio Sanchez, Gerald Clayton, Taylor Eigsti, Linda May Han Oh, Moonchild, Louis Cole, Daedelus, Snoop Dogg, and the artist formerly known as Prince. Ben is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated group Kneebody.
Kevin Hays
Grammy-winning jazz pianist, composer, and singer/songwriter Kevin Hays’s recordings are critically acclaimed by The New York Times, Downbeat Magazine, and Jazz Times. Kevin received the “Coup de Coeur” award from the Académie Charles Cros and has recorded with Chris Potter, Bill Stewart, Joshua Redman, Jeff Ballard, Nicholas Payton, and Al Foster, among others. Notable collaborations include a piano duet with Brad Mehldau and world tours with James Taylor, Sonny Rollins, John Scofield, Joe Henderson, and Roy Haynes.
