Global Environmental Institute (GEI) is an environmental NGO that has bridged policymakers and civil society on issues of conservation, climate, and sustainable investing. GEI has facilitated a wide range of collaborative environmental protection and climate mitigation activities between China, the United States, and other developing countries. By building connections between stakeholders from different countries and sectors, GEI’s work enables more cohesive and effective cooperation between conservationists, planners, and policymakers.

GEI is now working to incorporate economical nature-based solutions into China’s growing domestic and international sustainable development activities to support climate resiliency. Research has shown that nature-based solutions like carbon sequestration could account for over 30 percent of climate mitigation needed by 2030 while delivering positive impacts for public health, biodiversity, and natural ecosystems.
